HDP: powerful parallel shaft gears from Bonfiglioli
A brand new geared series to 16.5 kNm
April 2005

HDP—Heavy Duty Parallel Shaft

Torque density at a record level

A new series of parallel shaft gears from Bonfiglioli

The first 4 of a total of 12 sizes of the new parallel shaft gear series are ready for production and will be presented at this years Hanover Trade Fair. They are compact, powerful and technically distinctive. They can be installed in various ways, leading to a wide range of attachment possibilities. The power density of the new generation has been significantly increased compared to the preceding models. With 16,550 Nm rated torque , the largest current model, the HDP 90, clearly outclasses all comparable competitors. A sizable catalogue shows various designs, shafts and flanges which compliment the basic model and allow it to be used in almost all mechanical engineering applications.

It was time that Bonfiglioli, based on its own information producer of the largest number of geared units in Europe, took the lead in parallel shaft gears again. The basic advantages are easily listed: record torque density, top performance with high reliability, an increase in the diversity of options for assembly and attachment compared with previous products, user friendliness and, last but not least, a competitive price/quality ratio. The result is a family of gears which fit the requirements of mechanical engineers.

The torque values are enormous: 4,650, 6,550, 11,500 and 16,550 Nm provide the power for a wide range of uses. Two or 3 stages with a ratio of from 7.1 to 112 fulfil expectations for the speed available. Whether in the engineering processes of mixing or stirring or conveyance by cranes weighing tens of tons, the compact and installation friendly HDP gears are excellent in every situation. The spectrum of machines ranges from pumps to crushers; whether for mining or use in harbours, the geared units of the new range cut a good figure. Available with a foot or flange construction, even with a hollow shaft for slot and key attachment, they can be built into machines in a variety of ways.

In terms of the motor, the options of a full shaft in metric or inch measurements are available, as is the case for direct motor attachment, which then continues as a "unit" to have the advantage of being a compact geared component. In terms of output drive, either single or double full shafts in various designs, hollow drives with a slot and key and designs with a shrink fit coupling are in the program. A number of flange variations supplement the direct transmission options.

The list of options for the series of new parallel shaft gears is long. Given the diversity of possibilities available, it is clear that the manufacturer is concerned with his customers as well as with the detailed applications of his products. Oil cooling and heating also stand on the list, as do heavy duty bearings and recoil stops.
