The presentation of the new type 20 in the 700C series (720C3H) at Bauma 2004 marks a move by Bonfiglioli to extend its widely used and proven travel drives to crawler machines of up to 180 tons. With a torque delivery of 220,000 Nm, sheer driving power for heavy-duty machinery is in no short supply. The 720C3H represents best-in-class drive technology in a compact form.
“It was time to upwardly expand the proven 700C series,” explains Fausto Carboni, head of sales for the Bonfiglioli Trasmital product range. “Our customers are tending towards bigger machinery, which has unquestionably led to the development of this latest product.” The unit, comprising a planetary gear unit and hydraulic motor, is the basis for machine-specific customisation. The standardised core allows low-risk adaptations to be made in no time at all. Carboni adds: “This flexibility in development and production is our strength which, working in close collaboration with our customers, has made us very successful.” As in the automotive industry, manufacturers of construction machinery have very specific engineering requirements, while cost-effective production and just-in-time delivery are also a must, even for 720C3H travel drives.
Its superior power, make the new travel drive the ideal solution for applications where space is at a premium and a high level of performance is required. It has a standard reduction ratio of 1:174 to 1:287.2 and, thanks to a wide range of motors, allows for an even greater torque range. Hydraulic motors from 160 to 250 cm_ are integrated, allowing additional space to be saved along the unit’s length. Equipped with hydraulically-released multidisc failsafe parking brakes, Bonfiglioli’s new 720C3H travel drive is packed with innovations, right down to the last detail.
