The ancient craft of Grappa distillation has a reliable partner in Bonfiglioli

Faver is an ancient town in the Cembra valley, some 24 kilometres from Trento. It is also home to Pilzer, one of the most prestigious distillers in Italy.
Pilzer has been distilling grappas and fruit spirits since 1957 (the famous grappa di Schiava is one if its products). The company has won some of the top Italian and European awards for their spirits, including the Vinitaly show’s Alambicco d’Oro award, as well as receiving honourable mentions at the London International Spirits Challenge and Concours Mondial De Bruxelles.
Pilzer is still busily developing new products, all top quality of course, using grape musts not only from the local area but from all over Italy to distinguish the flavours of its fine grappas.
The entire production cycle is performed in keeping with traditional distilling techniques, from the must-making process to the selection of exactly the right times for aging the distillate.
Today, however, age-old traditional methods have to be supported by advanced technology if a company like Pilzer is to achieve an absolutely perfect distilled product. And this is precisely where Bonfiglioli comes into play: our W63 and VF 150 worm gears provide the perfect drive systems for Pilzer’s must stirrers, ensuring optimum fermentation and abundant production of the steam that is later condensed to form the grappa.
At Pilzer, modern technology supports the production of fine natural products, made to the age-old recipes and methods of this quiet valley whose people can trace their lineage back to the Celts. Between them, tradition and technology deliver the results that passion for the distiller’s craft demands.
