The final ceremony of the “Business Deserves a Reward” initiative promoted by the Unicredit bank was held at the Bologna Chamber of Commerce for Industry, Trade and Agriculture on the 18th June this year. During the ceremony Clementino Bonfiglioli was awarded the title of Economic Ambassador to the world.Around 40 companies from the Bologna area took part in the initiative, including prestigious names that have made major contributions to growth, research and the creation of social wellbeing. The title, awarded by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Gian Carlo Sangalli in the presence of Vincenzo Grimaldi, Prefect of Bologna, and Pier Ugo Calzolai, Rector of the University of Bologna, represents deserved public recognition for Bonfiglioli and emphasises the company’s excellent achievements in developing innovative technology and promoting the prestige of Bologna’s economy throughout Italy and abroad. This award recognises how the founder of Bonfiglioli Riduttori transformed a small, local business established back in 1957 into one of the biggest players in the power transmission industry, securing for it the role of European protagonist and, in certain specialist areas, global market leader. Clementino Bonfiglioli’s impressive ability to innovate technically and to find new areas of application commercially has enabled Bonfiglioli to become a multi-national industrial group and transform itself from a purely mechanical manufacturing company into a leading player in the field of mechatronics. New production plants, new products and the acquisition of companies synergic to core business have turned Bonfiglioli into a role model for all family businesses. The conferral of the title of Economic Ambassador to the world on Clementino Bonfiglioli recognises this incredible achievement. This latest title follows that of ‘Cavaliere del Lavoro’, Italy’s order of merit for industrial achievement, which was recently conferred on Clementino Bonfiglioli by the President of the Republic of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano, in a ceremony at the presidential offices in the Quirinale.
