An official delegation from Vietnam’s Binh Duong province visits Bonfiglioli

The “Destination Vietnam” project is the direct result of agreements of understanding signed last year between the Emilia-Romagna Regional Council, the Emilia Romagna section of Unioncamere and the Vietnamese province of Binh Duong. The province is to build an industrial park covering 300 hectares of land especially for companies from Emilia-Romagna wishing to open in Vietnam. The project was announced by Le Thanh Cung, president of the People’s Committee for the Province of Binh Duong.

We have come to Emilia-Romagna not only for the friendship that binds us to the region but also to make progress on an action plan that is part of the programme we launched last year”, Thanh Cung explains. “Our province has been striving form a number of years not only to promote internal industrial development but also to become more attractive to foreign investment. We are totally committed to this objective and offer significant facilitations to foreign businesses. We would love to see Emilia-Romagna becoming our main partner.”

Given Bonfiglioli’s existing presence in Vietnam, the Vietnamese delegation began its tour of Italian industries with a visit to Bonfiglioli on 16 April 2014. As Sonia Bonfiglioli, chairman and CEO of the Bonfiglioli, explained, “We chose Vietnam because it is a nation that enjoys political stability and is extremely favourable towards foreign investment. The country also offers stable, low labour costs and an abundance of qualified human resources. It’s strategic position at the heart of a market as important as Asia is another point that cannot be underestimated.” The president of the Binh Duong People’s Committee reassured Bonfiglioli of his personal support, and declared: “I shall personally assist Bonfiglioli in all dealings with the authorities and shall liaise directly with the government to ensure that the needs of Italian businesses are met.”

The Vietnamese delegation consists of a number of leading businessmen and political figures, including Nguyen Van Hung, president of the Becamex IDC Group, Mai Hung Dung, director of the local Department for Investment, Nguyen Thanh Toan, representing the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Nguyen Phu Thinh, director of the Industrial Park JV group.
