Leonardo Committee and Bonfiglioli Riduttori S.p.A. award prizes to the most deserving theses on Italian manufacturing in the mechatronic applications sector
The Clementino Bonfiglioli Prize is renewed, offering a six-month paid work placement
Rome, 19 June 2015 - As part of the Graduate Prizes promoted by the Leonardo Committee for 2015, Bonfiglioli Riduttori S.p.A. renews its commitment to rewarding young graduates who have worked on theses on the theme of developing innovative mechatronic solutions for power transmission in industrial applications, offering a six-month paid work placement at a Group location.
Bonfiglioli Riduttori S.p.A. is a leader in the design and construction of integrated power transmission systems for industrial processes, for automation, for self propelled machines and industrial energy regeneration. The Bologna-based group has made mechatronics – electronics and mechanics in a single integrated system – one of its main areas of strength and expertise, successfully applying its innovative solutions to various industrial fields, creating applied research and dedicated technology centres in Italy and Germany.
The Leonardo Committee, currently chaired by entrepreneur Luisa Todini, was established in 1993 through the joint initiative of Senators Sergio Pininfarina and Gianni Agnelli, Confindustria, the ICE and a group of entrepreneurs with the aim of promoting Italy as a territorial system through various initiatives, aiming to highlight its qualities of entrepreneurship, artistic creativity, refinement and culture, which are reflected in its products and lifestyle.
The Graduate Prizes are an initiative that the Leonardo Committee has been promoting since 1997, thanks to the support of its Members, and that over time has allowed hundreds of young graduates and scholars from as many universities throughout the country to receive a prize.
“For no fewer than 18 years, the Leonardo Committee has been supporting and promoting the talent of the young people who represent the future of the Italian economy,” commented Luisa Todini, Chair of the Leonardo Committee. “The aim of the Graduate Prizes is to give them a space, rewarding and highlighting the value of the most outstanding and deserving theses that illustrate the best of Italy today in the various sectors. Since 1997, we’ve awarded prizes to and supported 140 new graduates throughout Italy.” “Today more than ever, we need to cultivate the talent and creativity of new generations in order to safeguard and preserve the excellence of Italian manufacturing,” continues Luisa Todini “The Leonardo Committee strives not only to achieve this aim, but through the Graduate Prizes initiative seeks to bring young people ever closer to the world of work.”
In particular, the “Clementino Bonfiglioli Prize”, now in its 5th edition, will offer the winner a 6-month apprenticeship, at a Bonfiglioli Riduttori S.p.A. location.
The main purpose of the prize is to highlight the value and support the activity of research by young students who have worked on a thesis concerning innovative solutions that can be applied to the mechatronics sector. Among the assessment criteria: thesis written with theoretical and practical demonstration of the applicability of the project and explication of the results.
Eligible students are graduates in Mechatronic, Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, with specialist degree thesis completed after 01/01/2014 (new regime, minimum classification 90/100 or 100/110).
To take part, send the application form, thesis in electronic format, abstract plus cover letter signed by the supervisor and complete CV to the General Secretary of the Leonardo Committee (via Liszt 21 – 00144 Rome, Italy, tel. +390659927990 - firstname.lastname@example.org) by no later than 16 November 2015.
